Barnett Auto Solutions is a mechanical and auto electrical workshop on Melbourne Street in Triabunna. Servicing and repairs for locals, and a real chance of getting back on the road the same day if the highway has caught you out.
What comes through the door
Most places make you choose between a mechanic and an auto electrician. Here the mechanical work and the electrical work happen on the same bench, which saves sending a car down the road to somebody else halfway through a job.
Diagnosis and repair on cars, utes and vans. Faults found properly and fixed, parts sourced at a fair price, and the job explained before it starts.
Routine logbook and general servicing to keep a vehicle honest through Tasmanian winters and long east coast runs.
Auto electrical work is the trade this workshop was built on. Wiring, charging, starting and electrical faults, on the same bench as the mechanical work.
An Approved Inspection Station for light motor vehicles, light trailers and caravans, and motorcycles. No trip to Hobart required.
Puncture repairs while you wait. A flat on the Tasman Highway does not have to end the day.
Broken down on the east coast and a long way from anywhere. Plenty of people have rolled in unannounced and left the same day.
Approved Inspection Station
Barnett Auto Solutions is an Approved Inspection Station. That means the inspection can be done in Triabunna rather than driving an hour and a bit each way to get it signed off somewhere else.
Book an inspectionCars, utes, vans and 4WDs.
Box trailers, boat trailers, vans.
Road registered bikes.
Inspection classes as listed on the workshop signage. Ring ahead to check what a particular vehicle needs.

The shed on Melbourne Street
“We are pleased to tailor the needs of all mechanical and auto electrical work. I have returned to form our own workshop where my father once operated.”
Barnett Auto Solutions is Branton Barnett’s workshop. He is a qualified auto electrician and came back to Triabunna to take on the shed his father once ran, so the Barnett name has been the one on the door on Melbourne Street for a long while now.
It is a small operation and that is the point. You talk to the person doing the work, you get told what is actually wrong, and the price is the price.
If the highway has caught you out
Triabunna sits on the Tasman Highway with a long stretch of road either side of it, and a lot of people who end up here were on their way somewhere else. Flat tyre, warning light, something that started making a noise near Orford. Ring the workshop and see what can be done.

“A truly recommendable car repair shop. We broke down on 23 December. While help seemed almost impossible to find, we received perfect assistance here. The team was extremely dedicated, quickly found the fault, organised the parts at a reasonable price and left us 100% satisfied. We are absolutely delighted with the repair shop and would recommend them anytime. Thank you for the excellent work.”
“So grateful and lucky to have Barry in the town! We are traveling and have a flat tyre, Barry did the puncture repair in a very short time and help checked others patiently.”
“Barry helped us after our car had been broken into and damaged. He got us back on the road to the next step of fixing. Went out of his way to help and knew exactly what he was doing. Great mechanic and very fair price.”
“Our hero in blue overalls, his lovely wife and with his trusty sidekick, Jax. Thank you Barry for helping us out of a serious pickle with our car. We would never of made it back to the spirit of Tasmania without you. Fabulous service, exceptional workmanship all to an emergency time crunch I have never spent more enjoyable time at a mechanics ever. He deserves a town statue in his honour.”
